Hi ladies!
Love the podcast! Found you through Maddy Moon! 🙂
Question: I began a probiotic regime last year in October to get my gut back on track. Shortly after I began experiencing an allergic reaction to ALL alcohol. Started with wine, then tried EVERYTHING…Gin, Vodka, Rum, Whiskey, Moonshine…you name it I tried it. I’ve never had an issue with any foods before. I subsequently went to an allergist who told me I am allergy free. Yet upon trying vodka again about a month later same reaction (red, hot face, itchy neck and face, throat weirdness). I stopped the probiotic regime and continue to just eat sauerkraut etc.. It’s now July(8 months) and I still haven’t tried to drink again (because I’m afraid of the reaction now). Could it have been the surplus of probiotics in my gut that caused such a strange reaction? Would you try it all again? Just looking for an opinion. Sorry for the rant!

Hi Susan! Hm, I’m not totally sure about this one – but I would definitely look into a yeast intolerance, or possibly a candida overgrowth. I think it is important to try it again in order to see if it still is a problem (just a small bit!) If it does – I would recommend going to a Naturopath to get tested for yeast intolerance, or Candida overgrowth. There is a simple candida overgrowth test that only involves your spit and a cup of water – so I recommend trying that! 🙂 Also – check out Christa Orecchio’s website and candida program. Hope that helps! Thanks for listening!!

It is a strange one! This has honestly been the most in depth answer I’ve gotten so far though! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I’ll give it another try (ahhh martinis finally!!!) and if not then give a naturopath a call to get a candida overgrowth test. Thank you so much again for all you do. I love the healthy, happy mindset approach you’re sharing with women. Every(body) is snowflake :)~
