Hello!
I’ve been hooked on your podcast for about two months now. HOOKED, this is actually my second time emailing a question but I’m so impatient I just couldn’t wait. Really hoping you pick my question.
I’ll cut to the chase: I am an active duty, female Marine Corps Officer. Maintaining both my ability to perform is a job requirement that for the most part I embrace and love. However, I have STRUGGLED with maintaining my body weight requirements for my entire career. I’ve been active duty for 13 years now and was on an ROTC scholarship in college. If I’m honest, I’ve probably had body/weight image since I was in middle school. I’ve done and tried “all the things” between diets, pills, powders, insane exercising (to include body building), trainers/coaches, dieticians, and for the most part I am finally in a relatively good place and a lot more educated and realize that nourishing my body and self care is more important than anything. Unfortunately, I can’t go back and undo the past damage I’ve done to my body, I can only reduce my stress so much, and i’m often in a tug of war between trying really really hard not to be too restrictive but always on edge about not maintain my required weight.
All that said, I still struggle to maintain/achieve the weight on the scale that is required twice a year to bring home the paycheck. Now that I am both a mom (of two young girls!) and a more senior leader in an organization that I KNOW struggles with these types of problems I’m desperate to find a way to achieve the right balance and set the best example I can (both for my Marines as well as for my family).
I am ready to love my body (or at least stop being at war with it!) and be proud of what it has done but I’m so sick of waging this battle twice a year to achieve an occupational requirement. Do you have any suggestions.
P.S. I’m in the NCR and really really wanted to come to your launch party but was out of town…any other chance to meet you guys soon?
P.P.S. my other email question was about finding the right supplement/vitamin cocktail to fit my active lifestyle.
